A Major Addition to Campus

Benjamin Grady, Staff Writer

The Oglethorpe community graciously welcomes in our brand-new Film and Media Studies program. Whether you’re an eager underclassman or a seasoned, predetermined upperclassmen, anyone and everyone can learn something new about the major. Students and faculty alike are very excited about this new addition, as well as being excited for all the academic opportunities that the future holds. Dr. Katherine Zakos, the professor responsible for designing and bringing the major to life, passionately believes that any student wanting to learn more about the major should have that chance. “The hope behind a creating a major like film and media studies means multiple different things for our students,” says Zakos. “By combining media production with the history & theory of media, students will have the important foundation necessary to work in media and film and digital media production. In addition, students will also have the education that will allow them to continue into graduate school.”

With such a great impact to the community, the film and media program has the potential to graduate future movie producers, videographers and photographers who will go out and make significant contributions to the film industry of Atlanta.
