Our beauty writer, Natalie Fajardo, gives her first-hand experience with MAC Fix Plus.
I’d seen the MAC Fix Plus all over Instagram and Youtube, but since so many people were using it for different reasons, I honestly did not know what it was. This uncertainty sparked my interest, though I will say the price discouraged me from purchasing it initially. A few months ago, I ventured into an Ulta for the first time and saw a small size MAC Fix Plus at a reasonable price and decided to try it out.
To better understand this product, I did my own research and found out that MAC Fix Plus is not a setting spray and can be used for several purposes.
Many makeup artists use it to spray their brushes to enhance the pigmentation of whatever eyeshadow they apply. It works amazing with both glittery/shimmery shades and matte ones. I have personally used it for the Anastasia Beverly Hills cream contour kit: I spray some mac fix plus onto my brush or sometimes on the contour kit shade I want to make it more moist and easier to apply.
The MAC Fix Plus can work as a primer or a setting spray which hydrates the skin and refreshes makeup. It can also be applied throughout the day to make the makeup look fresh. Essentially the MAC Fix Plus is a mist that is used in all stages of makeup application and works well for all kinds of skin tones and face types.
This product retails for $26 for a 3.4 oz bottle and $12 for a 1 oz bottle. It can be bought online and in department stores or stores that sell makeup like Sephora and Ulta.
I tried it out as a setting spray, and I can most definitely say I cannot complain about the results. Though I initially thought $26 was a bit pricey for an item, I can say now that it is not a waste of money since the product itself has many uses. I would suggest to first purchase the small bottle to try it out, and then if you like it, go for the big one. It is a quality product.
