Yellow is the New Black

March 19, 2018

Yellow is trending right now and taking over the makeup feeds.  On runways and on famous celebs; even famous beauty guru, Huda Kattan of Huda Beauty, are all taking part of this trend.

Our makeup writer, Natalie Fajardo, has some insight about how to make the rock this trend:

Yellow eyeliners, eyeshadows, lips, and even nails are in. Although yellow is such a vibrant color, it can be used in so many different ways, both during daytime and nighttime. The reason to use yellow is that it can be a dramatic and  flamboyant look or even sometimes a simple one if done right.

One popular technique is yellow eyeliner. Whether it is tracing a cat eye or the cat eye itself, and whether you are using eye shadow or not, the eyeliner draws immediate attention and gives a futuristic and cutting edge vibe to any makeup look.

Yellow eye shadow is also very popular; it can be the shade on its own or with another color. Halo eyes and sunset eyeshadow looks seem to be popping all over Instagram. Sharp cut creases with warm tones and tropical looks with ocean blues are also emerging.

To finish off the look, yellow matte lipstick is an attractive option. Bright colored lips are prominent during spring and summer this year. There is even a look going around where the person applies a single yellow shadow to their eyelid and apply a little bit of lip gloss to it, to give it a glossy touch.

It is not hard to rock this trending color, since it is so beautiful; it’s just a color that not everyone is accustomed or extremely comfortable using. Nevertheless, it is a color that must be tried out this season.
